Joaquin Torres. During his doctoral studies, he was also a visiting researcher in the lab of Prof. Nicolas Brunel at the University of Paris V (France). In 2010, Dr. Mejias continued his research as a postdoctoral fellow, first in the group of Profs. Andre Longtin and Len Maler at the University of Ottawa (Canada), and later in the group of Prof. Xiao-Jing Wang at New York University (USA). From 2013 to 2017 he was also a visiting researcher at the East China Normal University and NYU Shanghai’s Center for Brain Science (China). In December 2017, Dr. Mejias joined the University of Amsterdam (the Netherlands) as Assistant Professor, where he is Principal Investigator of the Computational Neuroscience Research Line. He was granted tenure in December 2019.

The research of Dr. Mejias is focused on the study heterogeneous large-scale brain networks during function, using theoretical and computational methods, and including brain processes like multisensory integration and predictive coding. He is also the main coordinator of the Masters specialization on Computational Neuroscience and Deep Learning at the University of Amsterdam, and a member of the Board of Directors of the Organization for Computational Neurosciences.
