Juan A. Caballero, Director of the Atomic, Molecular and Nuclear Physics Dept.
(FAMN, US) and a recognized leader in the theoretical description of neutrino-nucleus
reactions will be the supervisor of the MSCA grant. He is the PI of several national
projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (FIS2017-88410-P,
FIS2014-53448-C2-1-P) and has large experience in managing national and EU funds
under FP6, FP7 and H2020. In the last 5 years, the FAMN Department has obtained 3.5M
€ of regional, national and European projects (H2020-Euratom Eurofusion, H2020-
INFRAIA-2014-2015 ENSAR2, MSCA-IF-2015-EF FireFelm, ERC-StG-2018 3D-FireFluc).
Prof. J.A. Caballero has conducted pioneering studies in electroweak reactions and pion-
production models, being part of a well-established international network with experts
from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, USA), INFN (Italy), IN2P3 (France),
UGR and UCM (Spain), among others. He has profound expertise in the supervision of
MSc and Bachelor students, having directed 4 PhD thesis and supervised 10 MSc thesis
in last years, whose fellows have obtained relevant positions in Europe (INFN, UGhent,
CEA-Saclay, UCM and US). Prof. Caballero has an active profile in media and outreach
activities certified by his accessible books and public conferences about neutrinos and
scientific biographies (Dirac and Pauli). He has an h-index of 33 (WoS) and more than
140 papers published since 90’s, including 2 Physics Reports and 6 Phys. Rev. Letters, 2
papers cited >100 times, and 15 papers cited >50 times.
